Parenting books? First timer..HELP?
Ladies, I’m 26 weeks pregnant with our first baby. I’m only 20, and both of our families live 2 hours away… We would like to buy some books on what certain symptoms mean, how to cure diaper rash, and all of that fun stuff. Also just good parenting tips! I’ve read every pregnancy book known to mankind and most I found weren’t even worth reading. Which of the parenting books are? We live in Canada also…thanks.
I love Dr Sears. I would reccommend “The Baby Book – Everything You Need to Know About Your Baby From Birth to Age Two.” All of his books are great. He has a website you can check out www.askdrsears.com. Also the American Academy of Pediatrics has a couple of books you may be interested in “Your Baby’s First Year” and “Caring for Your Baby and Young Child Birth to Age Five”. The AAP books are great for symptoms and how to handle illness etc. Love & Logic series are also great books but tend to focus more on preschool and older children not so much on babies
*LovelyMum – I think you do a huge injustice when you group all people of a particular faith or idealism into one category. I am a Christian. Like you, I do not like Dr Dobson. I am an attachment parent, I am pro-life (yes & a christian to boot) and a democrat.
I know people (Christian & not) whose parenting styles are different than mine. I have a good friend who is Agnostic, she spanks her kids and is a hard core republican. My job is to raise my own children to the best of my ability and try not to judge others.
