Christians, why do you think so many people have left Christianity to become atheists?

And, I’m not just talking about “backslid Christians” who strayed from the path. I’m talking about people like myself who were raised as a Christian by Christian parents and attended church regularly for nearly eighteen years and went to Bible school and studied the Bible meticulously for years. Why do you suppose we left? Why do you suppose we’re here and debating against your religion? Did Satan win us over? Or, is there something else going on?

My story very much mirrors yours.
I spent my childhood and much of my adult life trying to find the answers I was looking for in the Christian faith.
But as I look back, I see now that I was never truly a believer.
Not really.
That’s not to say that there aren’t some very good things to say about the teachings of that particular religion.
But for me, every question it answered only brought up more that it couldn’t.
And the more I studied the Bible, the more it seemed to me to be a book of fanciful tales written by Bronze age men with their own agendas in mind.
