AirPlane seats and SeatBelts?

My family and i are going on a trip to Ny soon and My sister is a Bit Overweight she is scared that she will not be able to fit the seatbelt around her waist im not sure of her lbs but i dont think itll be as bad as she thinks i tell her if she can fit in a car seat/seatbelt then she should have no problem with the belts on the plane am i right? and besides she can always ask for an extender but shes to scared to ask… so can someone give some tips on if she will be able to fit . or possibly some experiences please dont be rude if you cant help dont post ! tell her not to worry. the flight attendants are discrete about providing extenders. she most likely will not need one. a friend of mine was worried about that but fit just fine in the seat belt provided. (and that friend generally wears sizes 2x-3x)
